Important Notification

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has begun construction on Route 1 between Route 287 and the Garden State Parkway.

As of May 16, 2008, access to/from Pierson Avenue to/from Route 1 South is closed due to this continuing Route 1 construction project. The NJAR® building parking lot entrance/exit closest to Route 1 will also be closed.

The construction project has also closed the Pierson Avenue and Amboy Avenue (CR-501 West) ramps off of Route #1 South. If traveling on Route 1 South, please use the Pierson Avenue detour (highlighted in map graphic and described in the directions below).

All traffic must access the NJAR® building from Pierson Avenue via Amboy Avenue and use the first parking lot entrance on the right side. The NJDOT expects this closure to last 8 months.

The entire Route 1 project is predicted to last until September 2009. Please allow extra travel time due to traffic congestion and construction. If you have any problems, please call NJAR® at (732) 494-5616.

SOUTH on Garden State Parkway
Exit at #130 (Route #1 South)
Go approximately 2 miles south on Route #1.
The construction project has closed the Pierson Avenue and Amboy Avenue (CR-501 West) ramps off of Route #1 South. If traveling on Route 1 South, please use the Pierson Avenue detour (highlighted in map graphic above).
After passing the NJAR® building, stay in the right lane and follow the detour sign for an immediate right turn on to Jeff Street.
Take Jeff Street to the end and turn right on Lodi Avenue.
At the end of Lodi Avenue, turn right on to Pierson Avenue and utilize the first entrance to NJAR®, which is the last right you can make before Pierson Avenue is blocked off.

NORTH on Garden State Parkway
Exit at #127
Follow signs for Route #287 North.
Turn right at Route #1 North exit.
Go north 1/2 mile until you see the sign "501 West" and then turn right.
Take that exit and follow Amboy Avenue under the overpass through one traffic light.
Turn left at the street immediately following the light, Pierson Avenue.
Follow Pierson Avenue straight for less than .5 miles.
Turn right into the NJAR® parking lot, located before the ramp for Route 1 south.

SOUTH or NORTH on New Jersey Turnpike
Exit at #10
Go north on Route #287
Turn right at Route #1 North exit
Go north 1/2 mile until you see the sign "501 West" and then turn right.
Take that exit and follow Amboy Avenue under the overpass through one traffic light.
Turn left at the street immediately following the light, Pierson Avenue.
Follow Pierson Avenue straight for less than .5 miles.
Turn right into the NJAR® parking lot, located before the ramp for Route 1 south.
