Program Information
The Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI)
designation from the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REALTORS® is only offered in New Jersey by
NJAR®.
Because buying and selling property has
become increasingly complex, a keen
understanding of real estate transactions is
more important than ever. REALTORS® with the
GRI designation are highly trained in many
areas of real estate to better serve and
protect their clients. GRI is a nationally
recognized designation attained after
successfully completing a rigorous program
of coursework covering various areas of real
estate. Individuals who have attained their
GRI designation are considered leaders in
the real estate profession. For

Designation,

expanding your networking circle through a
NJAR® webinar.
Studies show that top performers in most
real estate offices are GRI graduates.
- According to the member survey conducted
in 2005 by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REALTORS®, REALTORS® with a GRI designation
earned over $49,000 more annually than
non-designees.
- According to data from the
2007 New Jersey Member Profile (must
login to view), fifteen percent of New Jersey's
REALTORS® have earned the GRI designation.
The GRI program has helped the best and the
brightest in the industry achieve that level
of understanding.

Who May Enroll

Courses I, II, and III (30 hours each) and
is open to any REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®,
salesperson or other real estate licensee
sponsored by a REALTOR®. However, the GRI
designation is awarded to REALTORS® and
REALTOR-ASSOCIATES® only.
Course Completion
At the completion of all three courses, the
student will receive a certificate of
completion and a GRI pin at the graduation
reception at the
Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo in December.
Courses I, II, & III leading to the GRI
designation do not need to be taken in
order.

The GRI Broker Course is comprised of the
supplemental courses that, along with the
GRI designation, satisfy the education
requirements for the NJ Broker License.
(Providing all other requirements are met as
set forth by the New Jersey Real Estate
Commission.)
The GRI Broker Course is a 90-hour course
comprised of Course IV (General Brokers)
Course V (Ethics/Agency) and Course VI
(Office Management), each 30 hours. GRI
Broker Courses (IV-VI) may be taken only
after receiving the GRI designation & IV
must be taken first.
Normally, a NJ broker's course is a 150-hour
program. For GRI graduates, 60 of those
hours are applied to the broker education
requirements. Therefore, only 90 hours are
required through the NJAR® GRI Broker
Course.
